The beautiful quilts displayed on the sides of our page were created by our quilters, who meet  second and fourthThursday every month.  They, along with the Hummingbird quilters of Sierra Vista donate the quilts to people in need.  The quilters are Karen Horton, Jean Mackeen, Ellie Waters, Susie Fawcett, Sue Speicher, Jan Boucher, Rosie Carpenter, and Georgia Nielson.  If you have an interest in quilting, contact Karen Horton. No experience needed.  It’s a great opportunity to learn a new skill, and make new friends while doing good work.

Mental Illness – No Time for Shame or Blame, Guest Speaker: Tom Reardon

“Mental Illness – No Time for Shame or Blame” focuses on the seemingly never-ending problem of shame and blame associated with mental illness. Tom will share information from his own experiences and those of his family regarding hesitancy, denial, and finally acceptance of mental illness.

We have children’s programs every week as well:

September 14

Continuing in the picture book curriculum, the children are learning about our 2nd principle, be kind in all you do. They will create a class covenant of how to cooperate with one another.

For more information, check the Children’s page;

After the Service:  Join us for coffee and conversation, so we can get to know you and you can get to know us.  A number of us like to go out to lunch.

Sky Island UU is a member congregation of the Unitarian Universalist Association. As a Welcoming Congregation, we affirm and promote the full participation of persons in all our activities and endeavors without regard to race, color, gender, physical or mental challenge, affectional or sexual orientation, class or national origin.

Our Promise: As Unitarian Universalists, we do not come together around a single set of beliefs, but we gather around the promise we have made to treat each other with respect and compassion as we each seek out and nurture our own best selves, while encouraging others to do the same.

Our Mission
Create a welcoming community of caring people where all receive emotional support, intellectual stimulation, and respect for their individual spiritual paths; Work for justice and equality in our community and the world; Increase respect for the natural environment; promote the Principles of Unitarian Universalism.

Sample Our Sermons: Many sermons are available in audio. You can also subscribe to our podcasts and our weekly email announcements using the link below.
